ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

Rules for Presenting Professional Work at the 20th BCCE. You may personally present two papers, or one paper and one poster, or two posters at the 20th BCCE (Rule of Two). If you receive more than two invitations by symposia organizers to present a paper, you will need to decide which two you will accept. Your name may be listed as a co-author on as many papers or posters as you and your co-authors care to submit. You may present as many workshops as you care to organize and present. An exhibitor may present one paper, one poster, or one workshop.

Papers are a standard 15 minutes long with a 5 minute Q&A period. The Q&A period is also intended to allow time for the next presenter to connect to the projector.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 February 2008

Rules for Submitting an Abstract to the 20th BCCE

Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 February 2008

You will need to select a symposium from the list of symposia in order to submit an abstract. Upon submission of your abstract, an e-mail message will be sent to the individual whose e-mail address is submitted as part of the abstract form. Submission of an abstract does not guarantee that your abstract will be accepted to the symposium you submitted it to. The symposium organizers and the 20th BCCE program chairs, will make a decision about the disposition of all abstracts. The symposium organizer will contact you if your abstract is accepted to his or her symposium. We anticipate the symposium chairs (for one of the listed symposia) will notify you by mid Feb 2008. If you are submitting an abstract to the "General Papers" symposium or "Posters" section, you will be notified if your abstract is accepted by March 1, 2008.

ABSTRACT STYLES

1. Capitalize only the first letter of the title, any proper nouns or acronyms, and if necessary, the first word following a colon (:).
Example: Using guided-inquiry to enhance students' understanding of chemistry: Techniques you can use in the classroom.
2. Do not begin paper titles with "The", "A", or "And". These will be removed before publication in the program book.
3. Do not end papers with a period.
4. Abstracts should contain 250 words or less.

IF YOU WANT TO EDIT THE TITLE AND/OR ABSTRACT

* Log in using your name and special 20th BCCE ID (xxxyyy).
* Click the title of your presentation in the left column under the "My Stuff" heading. At the bottom of the resulting page should be a link to allow you to edit your entry. Make the changes and save them.
* Make changes to your abstract before March 1, 2008. We start assembling the 20th BCCE program book listing each symposia, title of papers in the symposium and each presenter's and co-author's name and institutional affiliation on March 1, 2008.

REMEMBER TO REGISTER FOR THE MEETING

All presenters, symposium organizers, symposium presiders, including invited speakers, must register for the 20th BCCE and are responsible for their meeting registration fees, travel, food, and lodging unless otherwise notified in writing by Steven Wietstock, General Chair of the 20th BCCE. On-line advance registration for the meeting, on-campus housing, and on-campus dining will be available starting February 1, 2008 (or thereabouts).

CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR PAPER

You will be able to view your paper's scheduled time and building and room assignment after Friday, May 2, 2008. Please do not contact the 20th BCCE committee about when and where your paper has been scheduled or if you need to make a change in the status of your paper. Contact your symposium organizer for these issues. If you need to withdraw your paper, contact your symposium organizer and also use the on-line abstract system.
